SEPTEMBER 2009 NEWSLETTER Another month has gone and although the weather is still not good we have been very lucky to have played all our scheduled competitions to date. The numbers playing in our competitions has been steady, although there are plenty of spare places on the time sheets!! Liam’s President’s Day was a great success and he has asked me to thank everyone who turned up and played, especially those who braved the terrible showers on the Friday. A great evenings craic was had by those who came along to support Liam on Saturday. Once again the visitors on Saturday commented on how well the course has been kept and on the facilities we have in the clubhouse. Well done Raymond and Tommy for all your hard work. Congratulations to Derek Browne and Trevor Camley on the birth of Ruby and Thomas, future members of Clogher Valley I hope!!! With the evenings getting shorter our Wednesday competitions are numbered, hopefully we can keep going until the beginning of October, weather permitting of course! Still time to come along and enjoy the craic. For all you curry lovers the restaurant are doing Curry and a Pint for £6.50 on Wednesdays. COMPETITIONS 11TH & 12TH NSPCC OPEN STABLEFORD 18TH - 20TH (INC) FIVEMILETOWN CREAMERY OPEN STABLEFORD 25TH - 27TH (INC) ULSTER BANK 3 PERSON SCRAMBLE The Valley Hotel Singles and AON Insurance Doubles finals should be played before 3rd October, this is the date for Captain’s 11 v President’s 11, the teams will be chosen from Golfer of the Year standings. The President’s Day results have changed the leader board dramatically it is now a 3 horse race and will go to the last Competition, FMT Creamery, before the winner is known. The Ladies Golfer of the Year has also changed and is now between the top two!! PRESENTATION NIGHT The presentation will take place for The Tennents Open and all Septembers Competitions on Saturday 3rd October, hopefully also the Singles and Doubles!! Keep this date free!! 100 CLUB WINNERS AUGUST £300 Graham Wilkie £100 J & K McDowell £100 M McSorley Wouldn’t that be a nice lift coming up to Christmas?? If you’re not you’ll not win!!!!!!!! Octobers Events The Elkin & Bennett Winter League will commence on Monday 5th October and will be played over 9 weeks until Sunday 6th December. The format will again be a team event with a lady member in each team. Full details will be posted shortly along with an entry sheet. An Open Competition on Saturday 24th in aid of Home Start is being arranged, again details will be on the notice board nearer the time. The local 2 Leg Challenge between ourselves and Aughnacloy will take place on Sunday 4th and Sunday 18th October. It will soon be Quiz time again and I hope to have the first one on Friday 23rd October. REMEMBER TO REPLACE DIVOTS AND REPAIR PITCH MARKS ON THE GREENS AND CHALLENGE ANYONE NOT ADHERING TO THE RULES OF THE CLUB. |
